Every new year at this time I see all the days still stretching out ahead of me and I am  full of hope. I still have time to keep my resolutions. Even the ones I haven’t tackled aren’t too bad yet. We’re only a couple weeks in and as long as I start in January, it counts.

Day by day, bit by bit this year is forming.

Melissa has been creating block prints and she described the process to me. You begin with a block of linoleum. Slowly you trace out the design. Then you take your tool and begin carving out each line. Once the design is done, you roll ink onto the block and press it onto the paper.

But…

When that first print is made, all may not be well.

Some places look fine when she carves them, but the grooves are too shallow for ink. They need to get re-carved with deeper grooves. In other areas the design doesn’t come out the way she intended. Adjustments are made and sometimes the entire image needs to get revarved.

Right now, you are building the pattern this new year will follow. You are already tackling things that need to change, drawing new patterns, deepening some areas of your life, retracing others. .

And day by day God is building you. He has a design in mind. His work isn’t done yet. He is carving deep, drawing you afresh.

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6

Steady on. There is work to do. Work to be done. But it’s all good and one day, when Jesus comes back, it will be finished.

We are praying for you this week, that you will be open to the patterns that God is tracing in your life ♥
