When the news is breaking, and it’s all bad, it can be hard to think of anything else. Houston is on our minds right now. Melissa actually experienced Hurricane Katrina, and had to be evacuated with a small baby out of New Orleans, so she and her family are reliving those moments, and have some great wisdom on how we can help.

Here is how we can help:

Pray: Pray for the moms and dads and kids and grandmas and grandpas who are dislodged and displaced and alone and afraid. Pray for their hearts and for provision as they rebuild their lives.

Give: Give to organizations like Samaritan’s Purse and local churches you have a relationship with. They are on the ground now and actively helping, and you can be sure your cash is going to help. Give cash. Give gift cards. Don’t give stuff. Many families will have nowhere to put it.

Go: Join a local church or a Samaritan’s Purse team and help clean out and rebuild homes. I have a friend who has led teams with Samaritan’s Purse, and they actually have the team take time to find mementos and other special things for families, if possible. How amazing is that?!?

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
Praying that your hands are filled with God’s good works this week ♥
