I cleaned out my school cabinets and shelves the other day and it wasn’t pretty. I don’t even have a school-room, but somehow in the space of one IKEA cabinet and one set of shelves, I had managed to acquire enough junk to fill three trash bags with stuff not needed.
Everything is clean and fresh now, and I even have some empty spaces. And I like that space.
The thing is, I don’t have a lot of space in my life. There isn’t much time without the minutes planned for and filled. And some days I long for just a little space.
Nature abhors a vacuum, science says. Emptiness. Nothingness. Nature abhors that.
So emptiness isn’t what I need to create. But what about time? Or, a better word, margin. Space in our lives.
To hang out as a family with nothing to do.
To get to know our neighbors and invite them over for cookies…or an impromptu archery tournament.
To read a book out loud.
To paint nails.
Talk about dreams.
Go to that park we always see but never stop at.
Margin, space, time…to be together, not doing, but being.
Enjoying some of the small things that don’t fit in the schedules but fill our hearts and our minds with peace and endurance.
“For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Praying for you this week, that you will have margin to fill the hearts around you ♥
P.S. Plan to come to the park THIS Saturday and meet Melissa at the Sparrows and Lily Fall Marketplace. You can purchase some of her special art pieces and more! Learn more when you look up Sparrows and Lily Fall Marketplace.
